Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot!

Texas is experiencing record temperatures across the state and it is not even the hottest month of the summer yet! Here is a friendly reminder to be on the alert during this extreme heat and take the following precautions:
 

• Stay hydrated: Ensure you and your loved ones drink plenty of fluids and stay cool throughout the day! Heat stroke, fatigue, heat cramps, and other heat-related maladies can easily occur. 

 

• Conserve energy: High heat indexes can cause power outages. Although the heat does not directly affect the electric infrastructure, the strain of mass usage may cause transformers to blow and result in power failures. Keep cool but also conserve energy and run systems only as needed and necessary.

 

• Be cautious: Never leave unattended children in or around vehicles to avoid the possibility of getting locked in and always double check to make sure that all children are out when leaving. Temperatures rise very quickly and become dangerous inside vehicles.
