- Have a plan: From my own experience, you cannot over prepare for emergency scenarios and it is always better to have a plan than scrambling at the last minute! Plan an exit strategy and have enough supplies on hand to last for several days.
- Protect your home: Take precautions for high winds by boarding doors and windows and storing or tying down outside items. This will help protect your loved ones and prevent further avoidable damage.
- Verify your insurance policy: Ensure your home and valued possessions are protected from named storms, wind, and hail and confirm the deductible. A low monthly insurance premium may have a high deductible in the event of a claim.
